More Than a Color is a powerful memoir that delves into the controversial topic of Critical Race Theory (CRT) through the lens of victim mentality. This personality trait can be developed through experiences of crisis or trauma and can have a detrimental effect on an individual's ability to take positive action towards change.

Using a range of examples, from modern-day situations to ancient Greek mythology, the author demonstrates the negative effects of victim mentality within the Black community. She emphasizes the importance of recognizing our own agency and power, encouraging readers to take control of their own lives.

As a Black woman educator, she argues against the dangerous belief that the perpetual victim is dangerous to Black Americans and instead emphasizes the need for introspective reflection.

More Than a Color is a powerful memoir that is both insightful and thought-provoking. It offers valuable insights and practical guidance for anyone seeking to move beyond a victim mentality and create a better future for themselves and their communities. This book is a must-read for anyone interested in social justice, equality, and personal empowerment.

Inspired by the classic Tupac Shakur song, Friend Like Me is a gripping TV show script that tells the heart-wrenching story of two best friends in 1990's Southie Boston. Dee and Joe, despite diverging paths, have an unbreakable bond that is put to the test. After meeting in childhood, the two best friends' lives have evolved as Joe is now preparing to graduate from an Ivy League College while Dee is loosely affiliated with Boston's criminal element, and struggles to raise his two younger sisters after his mother's death. Despite their vastly different upbringings, Dee and Joe have always been there for each other. But when Dee loses his job and is in danger of losing his sisters, he nears a mental breakdown if he cannot keep his family intact. In his desperation, he turns to Joe for help. Anxious to save his family, Dee asks Joe to join him in a risky armed robbery.

In the heartbreaking final scenes, Joe is shot and arrested while an armed guard is killed. Joe encourages Dee to take the money and leave him, which Dee does.  After being arrested, when threatened with the death penalty if he does not tell who was his accomplice, Joe remains quiet accepting his fate. As Joe enters death row for the murder of the killed armed guard, the two friends have one final death row conversation about life, friendship, family, and God.
